Ronaldo’s Trick Pass Criticized by Atletico

This weekend Real Madrid played and beat city rivals Atletico with a final score of 2-0. The two early goals gave Real Madrid a nice cushioned lead, allowing players like Cristiano Ronaldo to play around with the ball a little.

Ronaldo gave his teammate a nice pass in front of Atletico’s goal using his back. Normally, this move wouldn’t offend the opponents as much as it did. Since Ronaldo did it, though, Atletico players were definitely more agitated about the move. We all know Ronalo typically receives a larger amount of  press than an average player, so his trick pass kind of shoved Real Madrid’s superiority and lead in Atletico’s face. Looking at the situation in this perspective, it makes sense why they would be angry.
