As you may have seen in several other sports, every company seems to be jumping in on the sport specific compression gear bandwagon. Nike recently released a soccer specific line of Pro Combat gear anchored by sponsored EPL stars Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres. The Nike Pro Combat gear is a line of compression gear meant to be worn under the actual game jersey, similar to Under Armour or adidas Techfit.
While Under Armour and adidas’ compression clothing is pretty plain in design, Nike has created theirs with highly stylized detail that makes the compression gear awesome looking even without a jersey over it.
With the World Cup in South Africa approaching, Nike has released their first National Team specific Pro Combat soccer line. The first country to get the honors is Nike’s marquee man Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Portugal side. The all red line of Pro Combat gear features silver and dark red paneling, as well as the Portugal Football Federation badge.
This is the first look we have had at Nike’s team specific Pro Combat gear, but surely not the last. Over the next several months we can expect to see Nike release team specific designs for Brazil, Holland and even our very own USA. the gear looks great…hopefully Portugal can play better in them, becasue I'm not convinced they have what it takes to get out of the group after qualifying. They do have that Cristiano Ronaldo Guy he might help a little bit.
