Barcelona and Argentina play maker Lionel Messi has won yet another award, this time receiving the FIFA Player of the Year award for 2009. Called the world’s best by many, Messi enjoyed his most successful season to date winning every trophy his Barcelona team competed for, as well as qualifying for the Wold Cup finals with Argentina. Messi beat out last year’s winner Cristiano Ronaldo and 2007 winner Kaka for this year’s award. Brazil‘s Marta was named the Women’s Player of the Year at the same ceremony.

Thank God. Finally, this little man is amazing to watch. Every game I know what he is capable of, but he still leaves me speachless. I guess one can say that his game is truly breath taking. Being at the top of the world individually and as a team must be a really confident feeling. I feel really privileged to watch him, and I'm not surprised to see these awards being handed down to him. I really hope Messi and Argentina can put it together for the upcoming World Cup 2010. I think it would be a shame that the worlds best player and an amazing soccer country dont do very well. But, I thnk they will put it together and shock a lot of people.
easy there fella. slurpin a little bit too hard. Messi is a great player, possibly the best out there and he deserves all the awards. His team won everything and he scored the most goals. I am pretty sure Argentina will start playing well when the World Cup starts and Messi will show the world why he is the best player.
