While playing in the Manchester United vs. Braga game ( 3 – 2), Shinji Kagawa hurt his knee in the middle of the first half. Surprisingly, the attacking mid fielder was able to play for an additional 20 minutes despite incurring the injury. But according to team officials, this extended game-time may have worsened his injury and Kagawa could now miss up to a month of games. This may include as many as seven games: like EPL matchups against Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Champion’s League group stage matches. Kagawa, who has played the first 6 of 8 matches for Manchester United, sustained an injury similar to Ashley Young’s injury, though not as serious.
On a brighter note, Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson reported that long-term absentees Chris Smalling and Phil Hones are both close to returning. These two players will hopefully secure a defense that has otherwise had trouble so far this season.
